“I was really impressed with the level of support I received. Martin Rickell was particularly fantastic – he was incredibly helpful, always responded quickly, and was just a genuinely friendly and approachable person.”

Overall, my experience with CLSI was mixed. I hired them to help me obtain a permit for updating my septic system as I finished building out my basement, and while they got off to a good start, things unfortunately slowed down considerably after the initial phase. I received several quotes, and CLSI’s base fee was noticeably higher than the others I received – more than double the lowest estimate. However, I was willing to pay a premium if they could deliver exceptional service, and initially, Linda, the civil engineer assigned to my case, seemed confident and knowledgeable, and she responded promptly to my emails. She was also recommended by my architect and had positive reviews online. I provided Linda with all the necessary documentation, including boundary drawings and a cleaned-up floor plan, which helped streamline the process. However, after about a month, her responsiveness decreased, and she took a significant amount of time to respond to both my inquiries and the county’s requests. For example, it took nearly a month for her to submit a crucial waiver request. I also felt frustrated that she didn’t always keep me in the loop regarding communications with the county. Furthermore, the invoices were difficult to understand, lacking the detail needed to verify the calculations. Despite requesting clarification, I wasn’t given the information I needed to understand how the charges were determined. Finally, a significant portion of the initial retainer fee was held onto for an extended period before being returned. Despite the initial positive impression, the delays, communication issues, and billing complexities led me to give them only three stars. If it wasn't for that strong start, I would have rated them lower.
