I’ve used them to do a full roof replacement and chimney rebuild on several of my triple deckers in Boston over the past couple of years, and the work was fantastic – completed on time and at a really good price. They were also meticulous, keeping the whole area spotless during the job. I’ve even used them on another similar building and plan to have them do a complete roof replacement there within the next year.   “We hired this contractor for a major roof repair and, unfortunately, it turned into a really difficult experience. Initially, his team botched the tarping, and one of his workers even fell through our ceiling – we ended up with significant water damage and my son had to move out of his room for a month. Despite the problems, he was apologetic and eventually made things right, and he did ultimately complete the job. However, things went horribly wrong on a second project – siding and window replacement. From the beginning, the owner and his crew seemed confident, but they made a string of mistakes, constantly dismissing our concerns as ‘minor details.’ They pushed us to pay them in full despite the ongoing issues, which included buckling siding, improper flashing, damage to our door and TV, and even damage to our roof and gutters. The building inspector and other contractors confirmed our worst fears – they needed to completely redo the siding. It was incredibly frustrating and upsetting to have to essentially start over after paying $26,000. The owner refused to offer a refund, and we’ve reported him to the Massachusetts Home Improvement Contractor of Consumer Affairs and Business Regulation, hoping to resolve the situation through a hearing. It’s been a truly awful experience, and we strongly advise anyone considering working with this company to think very carefully.” report abuse

  I’m really frustrated with the current situation. We’ve discovered a leak in the roof, and thankfully it’s still under warranty. My father contacted them several times, even trying a different number, but we haven’t heard back. It’s concerning that they haven’t responded to our requests, especially with the heavy rain coming this weekend – we’re worried about further damage. However, I want to acknowledge that they did an absolutely fantastic job on my father’s house in Somerville. They were incredibly professional, punctual, and genuinely focused on ensuring he was happy with the work. We’re definitely planning to use them again for any future renovations. report abuse

  We unfortunately cannot recommend hiring BRC. We engaged them to rebuild our porch and walkway, and the experience was incredibly disappointing and ultimately resulted in significant additional costs and a complete rebuild. From the outset, the workers arrived without the necessary materials for the walkway project and even asked residents if we had tools. Instead of replacing the walkway as specified in our contract, they simply poured a thin layer of concrete over the existing cracks. Adding to the problems, they left the side of our house jacked up for weeks and the third-floor porch was raised so high it’s now unusable and visibly slanted. They also reused the old railings, despite the contract requiring a complete replacement, and the steps on the first floor remain unfinished and, according to the City of Cambridge building inspector, are not up to code. Furthermore, we discovered they hadn't obtained the required permits, which is completely unacceptable for a project of this scope. The entire job was left a chaotic mess, and BRC and its owner have refused to take any responsibility for the substandard work and the huge expenses we’ve incurred as a result. report abuse
